Spring break finds students adventuring

Paulo Morejon

Junior Paulo Morejon took the trip of a lifetime some only dream about, traveling to Geneva, Switzerland, experiencing its rich history, night life and snow.

Morejon traveled to see his friends and family and spent the entire week in the city of Geneva. He experienced the night life and other history the city has to offer.

“I visited the Winter Olympics museum and it was very appealing because I learned a lot about the olympics that I didn’t know before,” Morejon said. “I noticed that its more upscale in Geneva than in Miami.”

As Morejon was sucked into everything so special about Geneva, he remembered what was truly so special about him being there, the snow and being able to ski.

“The Swiss alps are another level of skiing,” Morejon said. “There are a variety of different slopes with breathtaking views.”

Alan Lau

While some people head to some of the more common tourist places such as Paris and London, senior Alan Lau headed to a place that’s been in the nation spotlight – Cuba.

While visiting his family in Cuba, Lau spent two hours in the rain waiting for President Obama’s arrival. “Everything was regulated, with most of the roads closed off. We couldn’t go into the Square,” Lau said.

Even though he was blocked off, he was still excited to see the President in such an exotic environment.

“It was really interesting, seeing him in a different country,” Lau said.

Hayley Piper

Located just below the Arctic circle, Iceland is out there for Spring break getaways. This year sophomore Hayley Piper and her family visited the far off country for an interesting vacation away from tropical Miami.
“Basically, what happened was when my brother came down from college we chose a place far from the norm, pitched the idea to our parents and hoped they would agree.” Piper said.
The Piper family visited waterfalls, viewed glaciers and even Volcano islands during their trip.
“My favorite part of the trip was visiting an island called Surtsey, it’s at the southernmost point of Iceland and the scenery was great.” Piper said.
With a high temperature of 32 degrees Iceland’s climate was definitely a change from Miami’s balmy and warm weather.
“There was no doubt that it was colder than what we were used to but, it was a great experience.” Piper said “I was glad to spend time with my brother who I don’t get to see that often.”
Dylan Ratner

From March 18th through the 20th, Senior Dylan Ratner worked with Ultra Music Festival as a brand ambassador and an official photographer for the event. Through a continued relationship with the event, Ratner was allowed a team of photographers to capture images of the fans in Ultra merchandise. His team included fellow seniors Max Levy, Julieta Rakover and Alexis

His team included fellow seniors Max Levy, Julieta Rakover and Alexis Goihman and sophomore Jared Ratner. Ratner’s job with Ultra was to photograph anyone wearing Ultra merchandise such as shirts and hats with the festival’s logo. Ratner was able meet celebrities such as ILoveMakonnen.

“ I took tons of great pictures, met famous DJ’s and rappers and it ended up being an awesome and successful weekend,” Ratner said.
