On Tuesday Mar. 8, 2016, students in the Social Studies Honors Society (SSHS) participated a mock presidential debate. The following students participated: senior Elias Rosenfeld as Secretary Hillary Clinton; sophomore Nathaniel Manor as Governor John Kasich; senior Veronika Bondarenko as Senator Marco Rubio; junior Ethan Curtis as Senator Ted Cruz; senior Igor Stoykov as business mogul Donald Trump; and Brandon Shaffer as Senator Bernie Sanders.
“We conducted the debate in order to promote a political atmosphere of learning and participation,” SSHS president Adar Reed said. “We wanted students to learn about the hot topics being debated in today’s politics.”
Numerous topic areas were discussed including women’s rights, Syrian conflict, immigration, and capitol punishment.
