Brightline bustles straight into Aventura
Boarding residents of South Florida since 2018, Brightline recently launched its next stop at Aventura, which opened Dec. 21, 2022. The Brightline train company provides transportation around South Florida, with service from Orlando to Miami starting late 2023.
Located across the Nordstrom entrance in Aventura Mall, the Brightline train made its debut in Aventura with the promise to bring in jobs and provide a solution to the congested lanes prominent in the South Florida area. The station’s main building houses the main lobby and passenger lounges with an external catwalk connecting the passenger platform. Construction is starting soon on the east passage that will connect the station to Aventura Mall.
“I think it’s better than the transportation here now,” senior Yasmin Rahmon said. “[I] plan on using it in the near future.”
Brightline promises to provide high-speed trains for daily transportation between the MiamiCentral station to Aventura during peak commute hours, with an estimated commute time of 17 minutes.
All stations include “SMART” and “PREMIUM” lounges for customers and their “MRKT,” which is a self-automated “grab-and-go” convenience store.
Brightline will also offer services to provide easier transportation to your destination from the train, called Brightline+. This service will provide rental cars, bikes and event shuttles along with the purchase of your ticket. The Aventura site has 240 parking spaces, as well as a designated bus drop-off for Miami-Dade Transit. Residents of Aventura commuting to the MiamiStation can expect subsidized fares as well.
“[Brightline] will connect a key community to four major downtown communities in South Florida… The impact of this connectivity is vital for northeast Miami Dade County and its residents,” Commissioner Sally A. Heyman said.
The Brightline train itself can reach top speeds of 125 mph, and is noted to have a 100 percent carbon neutral footprint. The stations that are currently connected to the newest station are in Ft. Lauderdale, West-Palm Beach, Miami and Boca Raton, with a future station opening at Orlando in late 2023.
The Brightline company aims to bring an eco-friendly transit system that succeeds in connecting the prominent areas of South Florida. The newest station (with more on the way) hopes to usher in a new era of travel for Florida citizens.
