All Miami-Dade County Public Schools will be providing flu vaccinations from September 12th to the 30th of 2016 in cooperation with Healthy Schools, a Florida-based vaccine provider.
Healthy schools has eliminated their flu-mist option which would allow students to inject the flu-fighting viruses up their noses using nasal spray. Only vaccines done by injection will be given this year as recommended by the CDC and ACIP.
Although changes have been made students and teachers alike are still skeptical of the live vaccines. “My grandmother got a flu shot that resulted in her getting the flu,” said Linda Wills.
