Despite many complaining about the extreme costs and waiting time for the tickets for Beyonce and Taylor Swift, there are plenty of factors that go into the marketing value and why the tickets may be hard for supporters to get.
Fans wanting to see such in-demand artists sometimes wait more than eight hours in hopes of getting tickets, and many don’t get the chance.
“Three out of four times I waited on Ticketmaster for four hours for Taylor’s concert and lucked out,” junior Matias Rojas said.
According to Ticketmaster, on the first day of ticket sales for Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour,” over 2.4 million tickets were sold. Since the waiting time has risen to an extreme extent, only one in 25 people end up scoring the chance to experience Taylor’s performance according to Ticketmaster.
Based on the prices on Vivid Seats, the lowest prices for Beyonce concerts can range to $400-$500 and the highest ticket for Beyonce is $3,400. According to Billboard, for Taylor’s 1989 tour, resale tickets averaged out to $199, compared to the average price for her current Eras tour, which can reach up to $2,180.
Many choose to wait until the day-of to purchase their tickets in the hopes of getting a more affordable price. According to Finance Buzz, ticket sales are 33 percent cheaper on the day of the concert than on average, and 27 percent cheaper the day before the concert.
“I bought the ticket last minute on Ticketmaster for just $129,” sophomore Jaden Bellamour said.
Beyonce has the record for the most Grammy Awards won in a lifetime and Taylor Swift has won 12 Grammys and has had over 200 songs on the Billboard charts. If you decided to see a performer who’s more “underground” your tickets would not compare to Taylor and Beyonce.
Although the cost of tickets for Taylor Swift and Beyonce can be extreme, the choice is yours. While some people think the pricing of tickets has increased dramatically, there are some ways to get around it.
