As the AP Physics 1 students filed into the gym, they knew their preparation was finished and their exam was about to begin.
Two hours later, when these students thought they would be marking their final answers, they had not even started, and students were irritated. “When I take AP tests, I want to start as soon as possible, so I can get rid of my nerves,” junior Eli Salk said.
The test was delayed because of glitches conducting the AP Spanish test in the morning. Students who were taking both tests had not finished the first, so physics could not start.
David Alter, a junior taking both tests grew worried. “I knew if AP Physics was supposed to start around noon, that a test that started at 8:00 am and finished at 2:00 pm was abnormal,” Alter said. “I knew they wouldn’t start physics without me, but I was kind of worried.”
In order to let Alter and others take the test without forcing everyone to stay several hours after school, they postponed the test to the late testing day on May 19.
“While I was relieved that I didn’t have to stay late to take the test, I was a little disappointed,” junior Andres Sabo said. “I had prepared and studied hard, and it’s unfortunate they postponed it because I was ready.”
