Girl’s bowling teams rolls out the win

The Girls Bowling team has maintained a 6-1 record as they get ready for the GMAC tournament and districts this coming week.

Their coach, Amy McMillan, said their success comes from having four returners to the starting five, including senior Alysa Marquez, juniors Sagine Atis, Sophia Platonov and Thalia Nelson.

“The newcomer who has made the biggest impact is freshman Joselyn Reyes-Clark,” McMillan said. “Adding to this already strong lineup are freshman Elizabeth Timmons, and juniors Nylah Alexandre and Jodie-Leaa Hercule.”

The regular season, which started Sept. 7, consists of warm up games that ultimately prepare the players for districts. Last year, the team made it to states, and have high hopes of improving their results this year.

“Right now we’re focusing on districts, I think we will win for sure,” Platonov said.

Their coach, meanwhile, has confidence in her team, but said she doesn’t like to predict the future.

“We are in a position to win as long as everyone stays healthy and does what they are capable of doing to help achieve victory,” McMillan said. “They have all bonded and understand it takes everyone to help us achieve a win.”
