Spirit Day One: The 60s

With round glasses and tye-dye galore, Krop’s first day of Homecoming Spirit Week began with a call back to the 1960s. Students came to school decked out in vibrant colors and headbands.

“The 60s is one of my favorite eras of American history, ” senior Alara Guvenli said. “Spirit day gave me a chance to embrace it.”

Many went out of their way to take group photos while making peace signs for the school to see.

Teachers also joined the fun by dressing up in 60s style or just showing off a band t-shirt.

In between classes, you could hear 60s hits playing from the intercom speaker. Songs like “My Girl,” by The Temptations, “I Feel Good,” by James Brown and “Twist and Shout,” by The Beatles.

“It was nice to walk the halls for the first time in a while,” senior Stephen Reddy said. “ I got to keep my headphones off and just listen to some of the music.”

During lunch, students could dance to the music and participate in a hula hoop competition for dessert-oriented prizes such as chocolate-chip cookies and brownies.

After Monday’s festivities, the students went home thinking about Tuesday’s, which was just ahead.
