On Thursday, Sept. 7, the first pep rally of the 2023-2024 school year took place during 7th period, honoring our fall sports.
Students began entering at 1 p.m. as music played throughout the court and attendees settled in the bleachers. Pep band opened the pep rally with a performance alongside our Lightning Strike dance team, the Silver Dazzlers.
“It was definitely fun,” Silver Dazzler and cheerleader, sophomore Gianna Louis said. “Especially watching the videos at the end, I love watching my own performances.”
Afterwards, Student Government Association (SGA) members introduced fall athletes, including the Junior Varsity volleyball team, Junior Varsity football team, swim team and our bowling team.
“My task was roll call, we had to make sure the teams were sitting in the right spot on the bleachers so that when they’re called out they can just go out and present themselves,” sophomore and SGA member Denzel Augustin said.
The cheer team followed up and presented their skills as they performed their “Showtime,” “Y-E-L-L” and “M-K-S” cheers for the crowd. Dozens of cheerleaders were spread out across the court as the marching band played away.
The Fall Sports pep rally ended with Krop’s Junior Varsity volleyball team competing against North Miami Senior High’s Pioneers, to which Krop won all three sets; 25-3, 25-11 and 25-11 respectively, giving them a score of 5-1 for the season.
“It was a good experience,” Junior Varsity volleyball player and junior Diana Perez said. “It was a great way to start the first pep rally, honestly I was kind of nervous playing in front of such a big crowd. We were expecting a good game but we still gave it our all.”
This pep rally marks the first of many, and welcomed students into the 2023-2024 school year.
