The start of each grade level can bring new requirements, stresses and adjustments. Last week, students in all grades attended orientations to help them through this.
“The purpose of the orientations was just to remind the students about the various policies that we’ve had in place, there’s nothing new but sometimes they need to be retaught,” Activities Director Michelle Russell said.
Starting on Tuesday, Aug. 26, each grade level was called out of class into the auditorium, where Russell and Principal Lee Krueger, in addition to each grade’s counselors and assistant principals, all gave a presentation on various information. Seniors went first to coincide with Krop’s Senior Spirit Day, followed by freshmen on Wednesday, sophomores on Thursday and juniors on Friday.
Some of the main topics discussed at the orientations were student behavior requirements, including the dress code.
Additionally, students were told about credit requirements and the necessity of passing their classes in order to graduate, with students being at risk of being transferred to an alternative school if they fall far behind enough on passing classes needed for graduation.
The meetings were not just about student behavior and academics, with seniors learning about different activities being put on for their final year at Krop. In addition to the spirit day occurring during the orientation, Class of 2026 seniors will have spirit days on the 26th of every month. As well, a Scrapbook Instagram account was created, with it going to include various student photographs of senior activities. Finally, it was announced that seniors would receive a special lanyard for their IDs, with the design being specially customized for Class of 2026.
“It was an alright experience, it was kind of hard to follow along because some kids were screaming, but other than that they gave good information I needed to know as a senior,” senior Jayden Hyde said.
